 Pre-production prototype manufacture for additional testing and product marketing (advanced working prototype)

 Small batch production (to supply early sales orders)
Electronic manufacturing design, computer controlled key-safe A recent Milspec project is this computer controlled key management system.
The 18 key version on the left will accept additional slave units.
A 54 key version is also available.

 Full product production

 Product development/updates and production

 Product repair & maintenance

Production Considerations for Electronic Manufacturing Design

Along with the actual product manufacturing, Milspec would undertake complete project and production management.

Pre-production design may require additional expertise. We may suggest engagement of a suitably qualified electronic manufacturing design engineer or consultant to aid in this process.

Product development suggestions (ideas) would still come from all parties involved however a qualified engineer would use established design and construction principles for the type of product and consider relevant OH&S requirements (shortcomings, breakdowns etc.)

In addition, product design liability cover would be provided for the Intellectual Property owner and manufacturer.

Software development would follow a similar process as the above. Product shortcomings and additional features can usually be included in the design for a relatively small cost.

Production schedules and programming (timeframes) would be determined and undertaken by both, your company and Milspec. The specific details of how this takes place would be the subject of further discussions.

Milspec would seek Exclusive Manufacturing Rights of this and similar products.

Commercialisation Considerations For The Electronic Manufacturing Design Project

An important aspect of any product to be manufactured is its commercial reality and viability in the market place. Milspec, as the manufacturer can offer general guidance as to how this process is best conducted for your particular product and requirements

Development Process-- The usual method of controlling the product development process is via a Manufacturing Agreement which includes Confidentiality and Intellectual Property considerations

Development Costs-- The cost of design is usually negotiated as a one-off payment upon completion of the pre-production prototype.

Manufactured Unit Prices (Production Costs)-- The unit production costs are typically based on a set amount per unit and a sliding scale based on batch size (price breaks). It is generally lover for large volume production.

Key factors that influence the production costs are:

 Development process outcomes, which include product design considerations and prototype evaluation.

 Material supply and availability including alternatives. It may be possible to source supply direct from the manufacturer/agent instead of going through a distributor, especially when significant materials/products are purchased.

 Manufacturing method being batch and/or continuos production and number of units per production run (Price breaks)

 Product variants (if any)

Overall, we would aim to reduce prices wherever possible while maintaining complete product functionality.

Prices will be and are best confirmed by standard business practices and arrangements (Quotations/Purchase Orders). This approach also allows flexibility to both parties by allowing for product variations and price changes by negotiation.
Upon completion of the development process and before we would provide a fixed price quotation.
